9/19/2023 0 Comments Gog galaxy linuxBut fear not, my friends, we got Lutris Hey folks, real bummer, that GOG Galaxy 2.0 still has no Linux support (though that was kind of obvious). I play the games "direct" from the command line after I close GoG client. GOG Galaxy 2.0 has no Linux support, bummer. Still, with GoG Galaxy loaded for myself and probably most Laptop users, the bottle-neck is in the video card, and the Galaxy client is a giant resource hog, that will cause massive slow downs in my games, so I use it for installing, updating, sync with cloud, or just browsing what I have and buying new games from the store. home/username/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/GOG Galaxy/ Īnd rename this dll: libGLESv2.dll to something like: libGLESv2.dllORG, then make a new empty file and call it "libGLESv2.dll", also make it "read only" so future installs can't change it back (this dll is what causes the "black screen "overlay problem). Once you have GoG Galaxy installed, go to the installation directory probably somewhere like this I keep the latest "Wine staging" version installed, and also have PoL (Play on Linux) installed for versions of apps/games that work better with other wine-versions. I downloaded the latest GoG galaxy install from their web page if you go with a Linux browser, GoG will not let you see the download, has to be with a Windows browser, so you can wine-install a browser and look for the GOG_Galaxy_2.0.exe download. If not any of the above, just ask uncle Google for your version Ubuntu repo. įirst you'll want to install the WineHQ Ubuntu repository to your distro of whatever you use - for example here's one for Ubuntu 21.04: Anyways, this will probably work for any flavor of Ubuntu. I currently have Lubuntu 21.04 in my laptop and 18.04 - 20.04 in a few other machines in the house Lubuntu is just a stripped down version of Ubuntu, I like it because I like the LXQT desktop (reminds me of the old Windows days), and I'm able to install my own "bloatware" :). I can post what I know so far on how to get GoG Galaxy running on Linux. I've always been a wine fan, with all the changes I've seen in wine, I know one day (soon I hope), we won't need worry about when outfits like GoG, decide they want to make a Linux version. I've been back and forth with Linux since the late 90's - recently, I decided to go all-out Linux, since I'm not going to install or buy any more into Windows.
